WOW! What a great "snow vacation!" I am happy to say that your child has already taken the MAP Reading test and so far I am very pleased to say that ALL of my students have improved. I had 9 students to meet their goal, but so far ALL of them went up in their score! That is AWESOME! I have 2 students that need to make it up, but I feel confident that they too will increase. We are in the process of completing DRA tests, so I will have that DATA to use to help instruct your child.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me. As always your help is needed to make this year a success. Also, anything that you could do for our classroom this year would be much appreciated. We have a lot to accomplish this school year. However, with our hard work and cooperation we can achieve our goals. I look forward to a great year!

Class Announcements First In MathOur district is using a new computer program called “First In Math” to help students practice different math concepts. It is a program that we are using at school and that you can also use at home if you would like. If you have a computer and the internet to use, just go to www.firstinmath.com. Each student has their own username and password and the students know how to log on and get started (their info is in the front of their agendas). The students seem to really enjoy this program and it is a great way for them to practice math both in and outside of school.
Computer TimeI have sent home a blue sheet with your child or given one to you during our conference. Your child is able to access Compass Learning at home to help in Math or Language Arts. Your child has a label in the front of his/her agenda with the website and username and password. Also, the blue sheet I sent home has some numbers beside the heading. If you click on the websites listed as Math MAP site or Reading MAP site you will need those numbers for you child. That is where your child fell in that particular subject on MAP testing. Please let your child practice on any of those 3 sites as often as possible. This will help ensure his/her growth. Thank you.

Class Links These are some really great sites for Science.  Arcade GamesThis site is really neat. I had a blast playing the games myself. There are addition and subtraction games. There is also multiplication and division as well as a language arts part. First In MathThe students have an username and a password in the front of their agenda. This is a great site! I can read!This site is neat for parents and children. There are some neat activities to go along with Fancy Nancy. |
